Identification of Evaluated, Exemplary Activities in Career Education (K-12). Final Technical Report.
Hamilton, Jack A.; Mitchell, Anita M.
The overall goal of this project was to examine the effectiveness of career education by identifying some of the best of the current career education programs and practices which were referred to in Public Law 93-380 and which have been objectively evaluated. The specific objectives were to: (1) gather and analyze reports of career education evaluations in the K-12 grade range completed since June 1974; (2) identify specific career education activities which have been objectively evaluated and show evidence of effectiveness; (3) prepare documentation for dissemination on the activities found effective; and (4) prepare a handbook (CE 018 223) for local career educators which will include evaluation models and guidance in evaluating their activities. Ten of the activities judged to have been most effective on the basis of the evaluation reports were selected (see CE 018 213-222 for individual reports). Based upon review of activity documents and site visits, evaluation descriptions of each activity were prepared and submitted to the Joint Dissemination Review Panel (JDRP) under the Education Division of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. On the basis of objective evidence of effectiveness, the Panel approved seven of the ten submissions for dissemination through the Office of Education's National Diffusion Network and by its Office of Career Education. (Appended are a complete list of nominated projects, screening criteria documents, and other related forms and information. An executive summary is available as CE 018 823.) (Author/BM)
