A Model Affirmative Action Plan for School and Classroom Practices.

This guide is meant to serve as an aid for affirmative action officers from public school districts which are part of the author Institute's sex desegregation training program. The plan is divided into five sections: objective, procedure for implementation, target date, person(s) responsible for implementation, and outcome. The model focuses on the first four categories, leaving the school district and the affirmative action officer to complete the outcome section. Areas covered by the model include: non-discriminatory treatment; training of personnel; educational programs; extra-curricular programs; and monitoring, evaluating, and reporting. Appended are suggested topics of discussion for sessions on sex discrimination, examples of discriminatory ideas and practices, tips for non-stereotyped teaching and various checklists for analyzing sexism in libraries and elementary readers, and in athletic programs and facilities.
