A number of current activities at the Center for the Study of Evaluation (CSE) are described, including research programs, evaluation services, workshops and field training programs, publications, and information dissemination. The Evaluation and Decision Making Program studies evaluation from three different perspectives: (1) the program level, which examines the activities of program directors and evaluators; (2) the school district level, which integrates field work and surveys; and (3) the philosophical level, which examines the basic issues and theories of evaluation. CSE's Measurement and Methodology Program currently includes four projects: the design and use of tests; multilevel analysis; psychometric problems in achievement tests; and reanalysis of large-scale data sets. The Bilingual Evaluation Program emphasizes research on the characteristics of an appropriate transition to English-language instruction; technical assistance to evaluators; and training of female and minority group evaluators. The list of new or recent CSE publications includes monographs, reference materials about tests, and kits for assessing reading instruction. A list of CSE personnel is also included. (GDC)
