This document is an abbreviated version of the report "An Assessment of Factors Which Influence Minority Participation in the Sciences." The report aims to present: (1) a critical analysis of the sources and availability of educational opportunities for minorities to learn about science careers, and (2) recommendations for interventions targeted at influencing the choices of minority students with respect to science careers. The intervention principles included in this document are designed to aid statewide secondary educational systems, colleges and science industries in altering the present pattern of low minority participation in non-traditional career fields--especially in the fields of science and engineering.
