The Alaska State Day Care Assistance Program. Second Annual Report.
Alaska State Dept. of Community and Regional Affairs, Juneau.
This annual report reviews the role of the Alaska Day Care Assistance Program, which was established in 1976 and amended in 1977 to provide child care assistance to families with children under 10 years of age regardless of their eligibility to receive Aid to Families with Dependent Children. The report describes the financial support awarded to 12 Alaskan communities and reviews the number of children who received care and the number of parents who were enabled to work or to receive job training through the Day Care Assistance Program. Tables are presented which provide data on the types of services provided (part time, full time, or more than full time; center or home care), program costs, and a description of the families served, on a month by month basis from July 1976 through June 1977. Graphs are also presented for each community to illustrate the number of new families assisted each month, the monthly cost to the state, and the cumulative cost to the state over the 12-month period. Also included in the report is a detailed survey of child care needs in 4 Alaskan communities. The survey details community and family characteristics in both narrative and table form. (BD)
