The Development, Implementation and Evaluation of a Training Program for Educational Information Consultants.
The initial training course and evaluation procedures are described as well as the roles and functions of Educational Information Consultants in interacting with users in clarification of search scope and interpretation of output from the existing online social science data bases in a remote northern section of Ontario. Their role in assisting local educators in formulating information problems and supplying them with further assistance was developed as part of a research project to establish an interactive, online bibliographic search service for Ontario educators. Data presented on the retention of training information and the degree to which the Educational Information Consultants internalized their roles were collected by questionnaires and interviews. A bibliography and a copy of the evaluation questionnaire are appended. (Author/MBR)
