Calculation of Full-Time Equivalency Enrollment in the Fifty States.
Rhodes, Janice W.; Temple, Charles M.
A survey was undertaken of the 50 states to learn the methods and formulas used by each to calculate full time equivalency student enrollment in colleges and universities. The data collected are analyzed and compiled by state, and the need for a common method discussed. A cursory review of the literature revealed that major inconsistencies exist among the various states and that the guidelines provided by the federal government are extremely vague; federal legislation seeking regulations of formulas has not passed.
