School-Home-Community Services for 3-7 Year Old Hearing Impaired Children. 1977-1978 Final Evaluation Report.
Educational Planning and Evaluation Services, Magnolia, AR.
The paper describes the School-Home-Community Program for 12 3-7-year-old hearing impaired children in Miller County and Little River County, Arkansas. Program objectives are noted to include involvement of community agencies and groups in initiating a model program for children with hard-of-hearing handicaps and participation of parents in the home training activities. Sections cover such program components as background information, locale, overall and component objectives, personnel, program activities, target cognitive and affective behaviors, and evaluation. Among conclusions are that extensive location and screening activities have been conducted, but the expected number of preschool children with moderate and severe hearing deficits have not been located; and that it is apparent that parents like the program and are appreciative of the help they are receiving, but all parents are not involved in the education of their child to the extent they should be.
