Worldwide Marine Weather Broadcasts.
Department of the Navy, Washington, DC.; National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (DOC), Rockville, MD. National Weather Service.
This publication is a source of marine weather broadcast information in all areas of the world where such service is provided. This publication was designed for the use of U.S. naval and merchant ships. Sections 1 through 4 contain details of radio telegraph, radio telephone, radio facsimile, and radio teleprinter transmissions, respectively. The NOAA Weather Radio continuous broadcasts and Great Lakes marine broadcasts are listed in section 5. In sections 1 through 4 the broadcasts are arranged according to ocean areas. In a particular geographic area, the radio stations providing service for the high sea areas usually are listed first. Each listing is preceded by a three part index number. Following the index number is the name of the radio station and its call sign; next are broadcast times, radio frequencies, and broadcast contents. In sections 1 and 2, the contents are described by a letter code that is explained in the set of notes preceding each section. Throughout the publication, references are made to figures that outline the forecast areas of various countries. These figures follow section 5. The appendix contains supplemental explanatory information. (MR)
