Nelson, Harvey G.; Powers, V. Michael
This document describes a system that has been developed to use a digital computer graphics terminal for interactive analysis of piecewise continuous systems of nonlinear differential equations. This program allows even a novice user to freely investigate the behavior of control systems and solutions of differential equations by changing initial conditions and system equations. The digital graphics alone has been an aid to teaching control and differential equations courses; the use of this system as a companion to the programing of hybrid analog-digital solutions of nonlinear differential equations has been shown to be an effective means for vividly illustrating comparative advantages of digital and analog methods.
