Design Guide for Secondary Schools in Asia. Educational Building Report 5.
The official working languages of Unesco in the Asian region are English and French. Many of those concerned with the design and construction of schools for the children of the region do not speak either language and often read them only with difficulty. The design and construction ideas presented in this report are conveyed ideographically. The ideas are presented in simple English phrases accompanied by drawings. The report deals with education, education structure, curriculum and educational system diagnosis, educational plans, and the facility planning process for secondary schools. Guidelines for design are given in relation to ergonomics and to environment, especially disaster caused by earthquakes, wind, and water. Design requirements for teaching spaces are given by subject area and include service areas. A synthesis of ideas presented concludes the report. (Author/MLF)
