Canadian Politics and Government: A Student's Guide to Reference Resources.
Silvester, Elizabeth, Comp.
The guide identifies over 50 source materials relevant to the study of Canadian politics and government available in the reference department of McLennan Library at McGill University. Sections I and II list almanacs and current biographical sources. These include a directory of federal and provincial government, biographical sketches of prominent French Canadians, and a chronological list of all ministries since confederation in 1867. Section III presents yearbooks and annual reviews. Indexes to periodicals, newspapers, theses, and research are identified in Section IV. Section V, the longest section of the guide, lists sources on special topics. These include elections, external relations, intergovernmental relations, labor, nationalism, political parties, and public administration. Each entry gives information on title, period of publication, McLennan Library catalog and shelf numbers, issues contained in the library, and a brief description of each book's content and format. The guide mentions that additional sources are available in the government documents department of the McLennan Library. (Author/AV)
