As a conference report, the booklet is primarily devoted to abstracts of papers presented at a Conference on Environment and Humanities held in Tallahassee, Florida, April 25-27, 1976. Dr. Huston Smith of Syracuse University, the main speaker, addressed the issue of "Humanities and Environmental Awareness." Other topics discussed included: (1) planning for a healthy environment in Florida; (2) water supplies; (3) alligators; (4) citizen making environmental decisions; (5) religion and nature; (6) philosophers and the environment; and (7) poor people in the environment. Sponsored by the Florida Endowment for the Humanities, the Environmental Education Project at Florida State University, and the Office of Environmental Education, Florida Department of Education, the Conference included participants such as professors from Florida State University and Florida A & M University, governmental officials, and many agency and club representatives.
