Course Design, Teaching Methods and Departmental Decisions. Occasional Paper 4.
Beard, Ruth M.
The relationship between decisions to change course content and resulting changes in teaching methods, students' performance assessment, departmental size and organization, and staff-student ratios is examined. Detailed discussions are provided on: Communication of course aims to staff and students, design of courses in which teaching methods and assessment assist realization of aims, and some reorganization of staff activities and use of resources such as teaching space. Recommendations are provided for organizing postgraduate supervision and studies. (Author/SPG)
