Profile of Enrollments in the Historically Black Colleges. Fall 1977. Volume 6, No. 1.
Williams, Mary Carter
Enrollment in 105 historically black colleges for Fall 1976 and Fall 1977 is examined within the framework of national enrollments and enrollment trends in these institutions for the past decade. Attention is given to the implications of ten-year trends in total headcounts and first-time freshmen enrollments for the future survival of these institutions. An examination is also made of a number of factors which tend to influence enrollment patterns in the black college sector such as institutional size, demographic trends, student financial aid, and desegregation guidelines. Raw data and a list of participating institutions are contained in the appendices. (SPG)
