The paper reviews research studies on school provision for mildly intellectually handicapped children, the evaluation of services for the handicapped, language and communication in Down's syndrome children, and the educational needs of spina bifida and hydrocephalic children. Implications from the findings are discussed in relation to the characteristics of future educational provision for handicapped children in Australia. (Author/SBH)
