Elementary Language Arts Program Management Guide (Kindergarten-Grade Five).
Bonifay, Rosemary W., Ed.; Smith, Gertrude G., Ed.
Designed to be a practical aid in the implementation of a minimal language arts program for kindergarten through grade five, this curriculum guide outlines the various skills which the child needs to master. Skills involving nonverbal communication, oral communication, literature, language, and written communication correlate to the specific Florida State Minimum Student Performance Standards/Basic Skills in Writing, which are measured in the third grade. The other skills taught, while not identified as "basic skills" by the state, are necessary to a comprehensive language arts program and for compliance with state accreditation standards. This document is intended for use with the "Sample Teaching Evaluation Packet" which lists specific activities for each skill given. The appendix offers several worksheets and sample tests. (JF)
