This book is intended to contribute to the theoretical knowledge of alcoholism workers so that the needs of people with alcohol related problems may be met with greater understanding. Contributors to the book represent a variety of disciplines and address a broad spectrum of topics. Part One deals with developmental perspectives of alcoholism, including criteria for its diagnosis. Part Two focuses on the consequences of excessive alcohol on various body systems. Part Three deals with alcohol problems in special groups such as teenagers, women and American Indians.
