Ethnic and Cultural Studies: A Bibliography.
Maryland State Dept. of Education, Baltimore. Div. of Library Development and Services.
The pamphlet is a resource list of bibliographies and sources of print and nonprint materials designed to help library media centers and teachers select curriculum materials about ethnic groups. Racial and ethnic groups which the materials emphasize include Jews, blacks, Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans, Italians, Japanese, Vietnamese, American Indians, Eskimos, Greek Americans, Scandinavians, Polish Americans, and Irish Americans. All but two of the 28 main entries were published during the 1970s. The entries, which are listed alphabetically by title, offer information on publisher, price, purpose of materials, grade level, ethnic groups covered, types of media included, indexes (if applicable), and feature sections. The resource materials include books as well as filmstrips, study prints, cassette recordings, games, posters, periodicals, and government documents. The pamphlet also presents a directory of publishers, an index by ethnic group name, an annotated list of ten reference books about ethnic education, a list of six sourcebooks, and ten institutional sources of information.
