Secondary School Self-Evaluation: 7 through 12.
Maine State Dept. of Educational and Cultural Services, Augusta.
This self-evaluation manual assists local school systems in undertaking a comprehensive examination of their curriculum, facilities, and supporting services. The primary thrust of the Maine program, however, is to promote long-range planning for improved educational opportunities based upon reliable data and a careful assessment of available resources. The program requires the cooperative efforts of the local administrators, teachers, support personnel, pupils, and citizens in determining the current educational situation and to set the direction for improved educational programs. The program requires a full school year for completion. Five years after completion, a follow-up of the program is initiated by the Department of Educational and Cultural Services to evaluate the extent of improvement and to prepare new five-year objectives.
