Implementation of Individualized Education Programming: Some Observations and Recommendations.

The paper describes research, specific problem areas, and resources of the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE) regarding individualized education programs (IEPs) for handicapped children. Listed are such negative research findings as concern about increased time demands on teachers, as well as positive findings, including improved services for children. Specific problem areas encountered by school personnel in the IEP process are reviewed, and NASDSE's role in providing training in IEP processes are considered. (CL)
