Attitudes of Regular Classroom Teachers Toward EMR Students.
Feitler, Fred C.; DuBasik, Valentina
To determine the readiness of teachers, not currently involved directly with instructing educable mentally retarded (EMR) students, to integrate such students in regular classrooms, 129 regular classroom teachers from elementary schools were surveyed. Among conclusions were that regular teachers see a need for experimentation regarding the teaching of EMR students; that regular teachers would accept EMR students for academic subjects if they can perform the work; and that the regular teacher is receptive to the EMR teacher's recommendation that the EMR student be placed in the regular classroom.
