Federally Funded Educational Research by the Local Education Agency: How Much and for What?
Hurt, Maure, Jr.; Mintz, Pamela Cope
To what extent do local educational agencies administer federally provided funds for educational research, demonstration, development, and evaluation? Based on data from 4,400 grant and contract projects funded by 34 federal agencies, the local educational agencies administer more than 30 percent of the funds for educational research, development, demonstration, and evaluation. Results also indicate that approximately $140 million are expended in this effort primarily in elementary education and special education, but also including some other areas such as early childhood education and alternative approaches to education.
