The stunning rate of change in modern society will make today's education obsolete tomorrow. Limiting educational planning to short-range objectives is no longer sufficient. To be effective, education must be committed to achieving goals and objectives reflective of the desires of the community and of school district personnel. The eight dimensions of comprehensive and efficient educational planning (as selected by Banghart and Trull) are (1) significance, (2) feasibility, (3) relevance, (4) definitiveness, (5) parsimoniousness, (6) adaptability, (7) time, and (8) monitoring. Use of appropriate planning strategies does not guarantee complete success, but it will undeniably strengthen the administrator's judgment, leadership, and vision so that goals are more likely to be met.
