CORE Program: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Remediation.
Cicardo, Barbara J.
The basic outline for a 16 sentence structured essay is a pattern that helps remedial writing students to improve their writing skills and that can be applied in the basic speech course and the remedial reading program as well. This document presents introductory comments about grading procedures for student essays based on the model and a collection of instructional materials that reflect its applications, including student writing samples, two writing exercises (putting 16 sentences in the proper order and filling in certain sentences that have been left blank in a prepared theme), an essay by Vance Packard compared with the model, and assignments and questioning techniques from a remedial reading course outline.
