The Application of an Analytic Model for Curriculum Review.
Patterson, Robert A.
The development of a curriculum review mechanism, the Curriculum Interaction Model (CIM) and how it is being used for academic planning and management purposes at two distinctly different institutions, the State University College of New York at Buffalo and Barnard College of Columbia University, is described. The CIM is a quantitative academic management tool designed to assist academic officers with curriculum evaluation and resource allocation. The CIM consists of two reports, a Department Contribution Report and a Major Contribution Report. Information contained in the two reports is summarized and displayed through an interaction matrix, an interaction graph, and an interaction trend analysis, examples of which are provided. The appendix contains the Contributions Report of the Biology Department at Buffalo State. (SPG)
