Impressions from Anthroposophic Communities.
Juul, Kristen D.
Described are several villages or schools for handicapped adults or children based on the anthroposophic (the wisdom of man) philosophy of R. Steiner and located in Norway, West Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. The anthroposophic homes, schools, and villages are seen to provide a positive alternative to more traditional forms of institutional care due to such reasons as 1) respect for the child as a person regardless of the severity of handicap, 2) the existence of both a moral philosophy and a clearly formulated educational theory, and 3) the concern of curative education for all aspects of a child's development.
