A School Board Member's Guide to Staff Development.

For the purposes of this booklet, staff development is defined as "all those learning activities organized, conducted, and funded by the local school district that are designed to improve the on-the-job performance of district employees." Comprehensive school district staff development programs provide activities focusing on curriculum and teaching methods, improvement of the organization, and personal growth and development. Aspects of staff development discussed in this booklet are the elements of a good staff development program, programs in different settings, program costs, and the relationship of such programs to personnel evaluation.
