Guidebook for Career Orientation, Grades 7 and 8. Career Exploration, Grades 9 and 10. First Edition (Supplement).
Cleveland Public Schools, OH. Technical-Vocational Education Dept.
Developed to assist grade 7-10 teachers in the Cleveland Public Schools in starting a career education program in conjunction with their specific subject areas, this guidebook contains fifty-two lesson plans. Each lesson plan lists objectives, activities, materials, vocabulary, and related occupations. Each lesson is categorized as being appropriate for grade 7, grades 7-8, grades 8-9, grade 9, or grades 9-10 and most are also categorized in a specific subject area (e.g., social studies, math, English). The lessons for the lower grades are related to career orientation and deal with families of careers such as sales, careers related to law, or physical education. The lessons for the higher grades explore specific careers such as tool and die maker, minister, or newspaper worker. The last six pages group the career titles into job families and occupation clusters. In the program for which the guide was developed students investigated three or more careers in the cluster of their choice. (BB)
