This catalog lists over 600 sources, including books, records, kits, and filmstrips covering both black American and African history, folklore, literature, and present day life. It is designed to assist personnel in the selection of media for schools. The contents are organized according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System: Generalities; Philosophy; Social Sciences; Folklore; Pure Science; Applied Science; Arts; Music; Recreation; Literature; Geography and History; Collective Biography; Individual Biography; Fiction; Story Collections; and Easy. Each entry is given subject headings based on the Sears List of Subject Headings. Some entries have brief annotations, all entries are photocopied library catalog cards. Suggested grade levels are also indicated as follows: Primary (K-3); Intermediate (4-6); Junior High (7-9); and Senior High (10-12).
