Five schools in northeastern Ohio were chosen to participate in this environmental education project. Students were assigned a natural area in their community to study in detail. This workbook is designed for recording data collected during the year long project. The topics to be studied are organized according to the month that they will be done, map making, vegetative analysis, geologic studies, soil tests, aquatic populations, and spring wildflower inventories are just a few of the seasonal activities. In all, there are 39 activities for the students to complete. Where appropriate, each activity includes background information, worksheets, illustrations, keys, case studies, and references. There are extra blank pages at the end of the book for notes. A worksheet envelope containing additional forms, study guides, map grid overlays, and other materials are included. (MA)
