Spring 1978 Non-Enrolled Students Registered at Other Community Colleges: Fall 1975 Entering Students. Student Flow Project, Report No. 39.
Hawaii Univ., Honolulu. Community Coll. System.
As part of a continuing study of student flow in the seven Hawaii community colleges, this report explores the number and characteristics of fall 1975 entering students enrolled in spring 1978 at campuses other than their campus of entry. Of the total fall 1975 entering students, 833 had graduated by spring 1978 and 1,784 were still at their campus of entry. Out of 6,484 non-enrolled students, 388 or 4% of the entering group were enrolled at another college. Of these students, 47% had credit-completion ratios less than .50, and 44% had accumulated less than 12 credits; this was also true of non-enrolled students registered in three previous semesters (fall and spring 1976 and fall 1977). Sixty-two percent were males, 61% full-time students, 57% liberal arts majors, 38% had grade point averages (GPA's) of 2.0-2.9, and 36% kept the same major field of study. There were significant differences between the 388 registrants and the total non-enrolled population in sex, full- or part-time status, GPA, credit-completion ratio, program, and credits accumulated. Data are presented by campus and for the community college system as a whole. (TR)
