Presented is the 1976-78 final report of a feasibility study on the postsecondary educational needs of deaf individuals in the state of Maryland. Objectives, methodology, and evaluation procedures are briefly reviewed. Listed among conclusions are that deaf people do need postsecondary education, particularly vocational-technical education; that one of the greatest administrative dilemmas faced in serving deaf people is the high excess cost of services coupled with low incidence of deafness in the population; and that deaf people would benefit most if a program of support services were located in a large community college. The appendixes, which make up the bulk of the document, include reports on the following topics: needs assessment of postsecondary education for deaf people in Maryland, implications of manpower research in postsecondary education for deaf people in Maryland, complementary community resources for a community college program for deaf students, a conference on deafness for community college personnel, existing postsecondary programs for deaf students and implications for a program in Maryland, an analysis of postsecondary education resources in Maryland in relationship to needs of deaf people, and funding sources and a suggested proposal for a program for deaf students. Also included are a list of materials, a list of articles published in conjunction with the feasability study, and a statement of the project advisory committee on the location of a program of support services for deaf students.
