Setting Goals for Your School District: A Community Involvement Resource Guide for Educators.
Gall, Joyce P.; Bullock, Janet B.
This resource guide is designed to help educators in elementary and secondary schools involve their communities in planning and carrying out goal setting for their districts' schools. Section 1 provides an introduction to community involvement in educational goal setting: the rationale for it, some common concerns of professional educators, and some of the benefits, in terms of both process and outcomes, to be realized from school-community goal setting. This section is designed to complement a slide-tape presentation. Section 2 details the actual goal setting process: the major issues and the considerations involved in planning and carrying out the process, alternative approaches to resolving these issues and considerations, and related resources that can be obtained to provide training or further guidelines. The eight resources reviewed were selected because they could be used at the district level and because they are guides for action rather than case studies. (Author/IRT)
