Transferring Success.
Far West Lab. for Educational Research and Development, San Francisco, CA.
This publication presents approximately 50 brief case studies that describe the experience of participants in the National Diffusion Network (NDN), a linkage system established by the U.S. Office of Education to enable people to share their knowledge and help each other promote change in the schools. The case studies illustrate the change-agent roles played by state facilitators, developer/demonstrators, and local school personnel as they worked together to transfer successful educational programs. The studies are divided into five sections that correspond to stages of the adoption process--awareness, match-making, joint decision-making, training, and institutionalization. The first page of each section indicates some of the lessons that have been suggested by the NDN experience. Each case study describes all the stages of adoption, but by presenting them in this manner, an attempt is made to emphasize particular points about the functions of NDN participants at each stage. The demonstration programs described in the case studies are indexed alphabetically by title, by program content, and by geographical region. (Author/JG)
