The Evaluation of Administrative Performance.

The author presents a model for the evaluation of administrative performance that includes three interrelated systems (the macroorganizational, the microorganizational, and the administrative evaluation systems). He describes the competency/performance approach to administrator evaluation and enumerates variables conditioning administrative behavior (organizational and personal variables). Three sequential processes of the administrative evaluation system are outlined--planning for evaluation, collecting information, and using evaluative information. The author concludes by offering several suggestions for improving the evaluation of administrative performance. (Author/DS)
