Study Instruments and File Documentation. A Supporting Document of the Instructional Dimensions Study, 1976-1977.
Poynor, Hugh; Brady, Mary Ella
This report is one of 8 volumes which describe the findings and procedures of the Instructional Dimensions Study, an in-depth assessment of the relationships between selected instructional constructs and students' achievement. These constructs include individualization, opportunity to learn, motivational factors, instructional events, and teacher background. Data were collected through interviews with students and school staff, videotape recordings, and analysis and transcription of written materials. In addition, the study collected information on instructional settings for compensatory education, costs, services provided by school districts, and the criteria used by districts to determine eligibility and participation for schools and students in compensatory education programs. This report presents all the instruments used to collect data. This includes both instruments that were directly administered in the field as well as instruments that were used only by the study central offices staff to conduct in-house analysis. The document also includes the contents of all data files built from the instrumentation results and provides an explanation of the processes used to develop measures in the data files. (Author/AM)
