The pamphlet focuses on the geography and industry of the Netherlands. Information, presented in expository, tabular, and photographic form, is arranged in four major sections. Section one discusses industry: its development since the 17th century, regional distribution of modern industry throughout the country, and case studies of several important business enterprises. Emphasis is placed on the country's lack of raw materials and its favorable geographic situation for importing. Section two describes the regional structure of the country and provides statistics by region on area and land use, population, agriculture, industry, and internal trade. Section three, entitled "Brief Notes," surveys problems of automobile traffic, delta works, urbanization, and environment. Section four describes the aims and activities of the Information and Documentation Centre for the Geography of the Netherlands. (AV)
