Un Exemple Non-Scolaire D'Enseignement Multi-Media: La Decimalisation (A Non-Academic Example of Multi-Media Instruction: Decimalization). Melanges Pedagogiques, 1973.
Duda, R.; Towell, R.
In 1966, when the United Kingdom officially adopted a decimal monetary system to replace the old, duodecimal one, the Decimal Currency Board was charged with educating the public and facilitating the transition from the old system to the new. Due to the large number of persons to be informed, the Board relied upon mass media, i.e., the press, posters, television, brochures, films, exhibitions, the telephone, lectures, etc. This highly successful campaign is analyzed in terms of the role of the content, the public, and the media, and their relationship to each other. It is suggested that this approach be considered with relation to foreign language pedagogy. (AM)
