Intended for use by state education agencies planning and implementing services for handicapped preschoolers, the document provides information about early childhood training opportunities, organizations providing information, and sources of funding. Part I deals with funding sources which local agencies might by able to access for developing or expanding their programs and services for preschool handicapped children. Information on funding sources includes the following: legislation funding comes under, purpose, type of assistance, application requirements, funding uses, contacts for information, and application to local districts. Part II outlines some sources of training for personnel serving young handicapped children, such as the Handicapped Children's Early Education Program and Head Start. A final section contains a listing of national organizations providing information on young handicapped children, which include Closer Look, the Council for Exceptional Children, and National Foundation-March of Dimes.
