Described is the Magic Kingdom preschool screening program designed to provide an efficient, low cost, and comprehensive means for identifying children with special needs. Sections address the following program components: target population; definition of terms such as accomodations (facilities), admission ticket (preschool screening report), and community screening coordinator; setting; evaluation materials; evaluation procedures; screening considerations; program summary; rationale for the variety of screening measures; sample room plan for the screening program; evaluation areas (which include hearing, vision, and self-concept); guidelines for planning and implementation; volunteer and guide training; general directions for screeners and guides; steps for scoring and interpretation of test results; followup procedures; and audiological hearing screening instructions. Also included is a copy of the Walker Readiness Test with a scoring transparency; a developmental history questionnaire; the construction plan for screening stations; sample picture release form; and sample letters, posters, and thank-you letters for publicity.
