A Comprehensive Early Intervention Program for Families With Problem Children.
Daly, Pamela B.; And Others
This paper presents a parent training program developed as an alternative, non-residential treatment approach for families of delinquent youths. When a child is referred to the clinic for behavior problems such as aggressiveness, disobedience, theft, and truancy, the program includes the parents in the total treatment. The major goal is to teach parents skills that will allow them to modify their children's undesirable behavior and prevent future problems. Group and individual training techniques are used, including parent training and consultation, youth skill training, and school contacts. Evidence collected indicates that the parents' use of the skills they were taught had a significant impact on changing their children's behavior. (PFS)
