Energy: Options and Issues.
Walker, Harry O.
This book is intended to provide basic information about energy. The first three chapters describe energy supply and demand, uses and sources, and common energy terms. The next two chapters explain environmental and biological effects of energy systems. Twelve chapters that follow outline past history and technological knowledge of the following energy sources: hydroelectricity, petroleum, natural gas, coal, nuclear fission, fission reactors, geothermal energy, solar, wind power, organic wastes, oceans, hydrogen and fuel cells, breeder reactors, and fusion reactors. The final chapter offers suggestions for energy conservation. A glossary of energy terms is found in the back of the book. Many tables, graphs and simple line drawings suitable for classroom use are included. (AJ)
