Since 1973, LNESC has provided counseling and guidance services to over 40,000 students, has contributed to the increase of minority participation in higher education, and has influenced the increased awareness and attention to the problems faced by Hispanos and the disadvantaged. The national office has provided program direction, fiscal control, technical and administrative assistance to the field centers, and dissemination of public information to the Hispanic and educational communities. LNESC has administered the LULAC National Scholarship Fund for Americans of Spanish Origin which was begun in 1975 and is the only national effort providing scholarship funding specifically for Hispanic students. As LNESC begins its fifth year of operation, it is able to look forward to a continued healthy growth, a stabilized effective and professional management system, and a high level of quality in the services it offers.
