A Summer Reading/Study Skills Program for Black and Minority Health Professions Students.

This article describes the organization, implementation, and evaluation of a summer reading/study skills program for black and minority students entering three separate health profession schools. The eight-week program was designed to diagnose and correct student academic deficiencies and to introduce students to the rigorous pace and learning environment of medical school. Course work in the basic sciences, clinical exposure, and professional contact were provided through symposiums and workshops. Evaluation tables for the three programs and a bibliography of sources that deal with basic-skill development for minority students are included. (MAI)
