Guidelines for Development and Use of Mobile Metric Education Laboratories.

Information is provided for projects on metric education involving the use of motor vehicles or vans as mobile laboratories or demonstration units. Included are various types and functions of mobile education facilities in common use in recent years in both mathematics and non-mathematics areas, with descriptions of several current metric mobile units. Possible applications for the mobile metric units are listed as teacher inservice training, student familiarity and demonstration, and awareness information for the general public. Facilities, equipment, and possible display items relevant to the various uses of the units and the various metric measurement topics are also discussed. A suggested checklist for use in selecting, designing, and operating mobile metric education laboratories is given in the Appendix. (MN)
