National bibliographies of 62 countries are examined, and standardized information on each is presented together with summary tables in this country-by-country analysis. It is based on, and aims to extend and update, Gerhard Pomassl's "Survey of National Bibliographies, 1975" and "Synoptic Tables Concerning the Current National Bibliographies, 1975." All aspects of the content of the bibliographies and bibliographic tools (e.g., classification schemes) used in their compilation have been covered. Entries include information on title, publisher or issuing authority, frequency, cumulations, introductory material, arrangement, indexes, up-to-dateness, contents, and other notes. A ranking list of categories contained in the national bibliographies is given together with other tables, and a final section presents a synthesis of findings and conclusions. (Author/KP)
