Bicycle Safety Education. A Guide to Resources and Materials.
Johnson (Lawrence) and Associates, Inc., Washington, DC.
This annotated resource guide was developed as a tool for local groups planning bicycle safety education programs. Although it does not include every resource and material in the area, it provides a starting point for program planning. Focus is on safety materials, however some general bicycling resources are also included to give the user background and supplementary information. Materials are grouped according to type: curriculum guides, packaged programs, films and filmstrips, books, booklets and pamphlets, research reports, and public relations materials. Each entry includes a brief description, and when possible, the cost, age level, and source of availability. Appended are examples of bicycle safety programs, sources of federal funding, a list of periodicals, and an index of authors/sponsors. (This guide was prepared in conjunction with a national bicycle safety education conference. The conference report is available separately.) (SH)
