Transportation Consumer Education for Adults: Mini-Units and Learning Activities.
Finn, Peter; And Others
One of a series of eleven curriculum manuals which cover the four transportation topics of public transportation, transportation and the environment, transportation safety, and bicycles for elementary, secondary, and adult levels, this manual covers all four topics at the adult level. Materials in four chapters comprising seventeen mini-units present different aspects of the four topics. Each mini-unit consists of a lesson plan component and an individual learning activities component. Some topics deal with buying and maintaining a car, citizen participation to resolve conflicts between transportation and the environment, bicycle buying, and procedures for registering effective complaints about public transit problems. Also included are references for further study resources, suggestions for incorporating the units into a larger adult curriculum, and masters for reproduction of role profiles, game boards, maps, and other distributable materials. (A curriculum guide, CE 014 028, is also available for use with the manuals.) (TA)
