This booklet is designed as a discussion document for teachers concerned with improving the student teaching experience. It is divided into two sections, discussing the role cooperating teachers and student teachers play in the student teaching field experience, and begins with an introduction describing the current status of student teaching-related research. The portions of the booklet devoted to cooperating teacher and student teacher roles offer practical guidelines for improving (among others) student teacher guidance and orientation, conflict avoidance, leadership style, productivity levels, and evaluation.
